I am passionate about the church, and seeing the church be what it was made to be: a community of people where love of God and love of neighbour are deeply bound together.
I feel particularly called to old, urban, congregations that are discovering what it means to exist again for the sake of the other. I love challenging people to consider what the gospel means in their community, which is often a world unlike the world many churches were once familiar with. Church renewal comes with its share of difficulty and conflict, but it's good and important work that I care deeply about doing well.
The key tools I use for this work are thoughtful preaching which calls us toward God's coming kingdom, as well as the ministry of faithful presence to and ministry alongside those who call the church home. Jesus calls those who he teaches and leads "friends", and this ministry of friendship is instrumental in understanding the way of Jesus and seeing its effects in the lives of all people in the church.
